How to customize your project dashboard

NB: Tutorial for Tuleap versions up to 9.8.  From 9.9 version, new dashboards and widgets are available : see the release notes

Today I am going to show you some tricks to customize your project dashboard.

I’ll start with how to customize widgets, then look at how you can add items from a tracker to your dashboard and then finally how to adjust the layout the way you’d like to see it.

/! You’ll need to be logged in as a Project Admin for this tutorial.

Customizing widgets

In the project’s home page, click on “Customize widgets”

Under “Add widgets” you’ll see that they are presented in different functional categories.

For this tutorial, we are going to add widgets from the “General” category.

To add the widget, click on “Add” (1).

If the widget is already displayed, the status will be shown as “Already used” (2).

We have now added a new image to the dashboard and your home page is automatically updated with the new widget.

You can also add widgets to show a list of the project members (1), or the last files published (2), etc.

Customizing your dashboard with items from your tracker

You can also add items from a tracker to your dashboard. For example, you can display a bug report on your dashboard (read also our tutorial about Bug Tracker).First, click on “Add to dashboard”, then select “Add to project dashboard”.

Minimize, move, remove widgets

You can minimize a widget window by clicking on the small arrow (1), or remove the widget by clicking on the “x” (2).

You can also move an item within a page with “Drag and drop”

Customizing the layout

In the “Add widgets” page, you can choose the layout of your dashboard.

Now you can update your dashboard the way you would like to see it, with the different items that you need to follow your project.

You can also try customizing an agile project dashboard or a waterfall project dashboard on the Tuleap Demo.

In the next tutorial, we will show you how to customize the project menu bar.

See you 🙂
